Collaborative Efforts in Educational Enhancement
Partnership with KEDC: In collaboration with the Kentucky Educational Development Corporation (KEDC), we have significantly contributed to the ACE and Navigator Systems. These systems offer Individual Learning Plan (ILP) services, supporting school districts across Kentucky in crafting personalized and effective learning strategies.
National Science Foundation Grant: Our engagement extends to a two-part National Science Foundation Grant, involving schools in Pikeville, Floyd County, and Pittsburgh. This initiative focuses on two key areas:
Enhancing Teacher Skills: The first part of the grant empowers teachers in computer science and computational thinking, facilitating curriculum development for CS pathways and promoting digital literacy from a young age.
Student-Centric Storytelling Projects: The second part encourages students to engage in storytelling, capturing local tales of innovation. This project aims to broaden their horizons and inspire them with possibilities in their own communities.
Application Development and Recognition
Mobile Applications for Social Causes: Bit Source has worked alongside student teams to develop impactful mobile applications addressing critical social issues, including opioid addiction and suicide prevention. These applications have gained local and national acclaim for their contribution to public awareness and prevention efforts.
Prototyping and UX/UI Design: Our collaboration extends to assisting student groups in developing prototypes, refining their project ideas with professional UX/UI design inputs. This hands-on approach helps students present their innovative concepts effectively and technically.
Lend a Hand: Fostering Safety and Equity
In partnership with Pikeville Independent School System, we developed “Lend a Hand,” a mobile application focusing on school safety and equitable resource access. This innovative app was successfully piloted in Pikeville High School and Betsy Layne High School, demonstrating our commitment to creating safer and more inclusive educational environments.
Inspiring Future Technologists
Bit Source is dedicated to inspiring future generations in computer science. By hosting educational tours, we provide students with a real-world glimpse into the exciting possibilities of a career in computer science, right in their own region.
Digital Innovations for Challenging Times
During the pandemic, we collaborated with Mountain Top Media to create a digital streaming service for schools. This initiative not only provided an alternative for in-person event attendance but also helped schools generate additional funds during challenging times.
